Meteora

Yet another view of the area.

Below the monastery we visited before lunch (I don´t remember its name, sorry). A lot of stairs to get up there in the heat. Seen from below. This particular place had very interesting wallpaintings – and of course a breathtaking view of the area from the top.

At the entrance to the monastery above is this symbolic model of a church. You see this kind of models all over Greece. Sometimes they are used as a roadsign to indicate that a church is nearby as in this case. Sometimes they are built as small chapels with candles to light and a photo of someone. Then it is probably in memory of somebody that have had a roadaccident or similar and died. They are commonly seen along roads where there have been accidents.
