I stayed in Bugibba, a small town in St Pauls bay, up north along the coast. The only "beach" in town was this stony public one, in the middle of the harbour. I never went in there but instead stayed at the pools at the hotel. The Maltesans themselves bathed here though. No choice if you didn't want to go away from town to one of the 2 sandy beaches on the island.
