I went to Turkey for the first time in 1995. I stayed in Alanya. I cannot say I liked Turkey. OK, the nature wa fantastic, it was cheap, they had very nice souvenirs t buy, beautiful carpets. very good food, very good hotels.... but.... the Turcs were not that fun.
We actually ganged together at the hotel in the evenings and went out to eat in groups, in the hope of getting left alone.
We found one nice restaurant where the owner did not throw or force us in, but behaved nicely. We went back there almost every night.
I swore I would never go back to Turkey... (I went back in 2003).
